WELCOME TO WIGSTON MAGNA DOG TRAINING CLUB
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Covid Update
It is with very deep regret that we have to announce that there will be no training for the rest of 2020.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we are very sad to have made this decision. We have had a lot to consider when making this decision, but we feel that for the safety of our trainers and clients the best decision is to cancel all training this year. We will hopefully be back in early 2021. Any news will be posted here and on our facebook group.
The hall we use for training is a community hall which is in the current local lockdown area of Leicester. The hall is used for community groups and we have no control over who uses it and how well it is cleaned after each use. We want to ensure the building we use is covid safe for everyone.
As a kennel club registered training club we also have to follow the guidance set out by the kennel club. Currently the guidance says we can only have 6 people in the hall at any one time, including trainers. We (the trainers) are not allowed to touch the dogs and have to ensure social distancing of 2 meters is adhered to at all times. This includes the distance trainers have to stay away from dogs. This is just not practical and really limits the training we can do. Therefore, we would not be providing the level of service we feel our clients deserve.
And finally, all our trainers are volunteers and all give up their free time to organise and run classes. Most of our trainers have full time jobs so are already putting themselves at risk of covid, and many are either in the vulnerable category or have family at home who are. We have to put the safety of our trainers and our clients first and we feel that after taking everything into account the safest and best thing to do is to cancel all training classes for the rest of this year.
We will be issuing refunds to everyone who is part way through a course. Please get in touch via our email address wmdtc1@gmail.com with the name of the class you are in and we will work as hard as we can to issue your refund as soon as possible. We currently do not know what format our classes will take when we start back and so cannot guarantee rolling courses will be available.
All memberships paid in 2020 will roll over to cover you in 2021.
Those who are working towards their Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards can still keep working towards them, and as soon as we are able to we will set dates for tests. The Kennel Club is currently not allowing any silver or gold tests to be taken.
If any of you have any problems with the exercises then please ask on here and we will do all we can to help guide you.
We will try again to add some training exercises for you all to have a go at on our facebook group for you, PLEASE support us in trying to help you by joining in, PLEASE don't feel self conscious! It doesn't matter if your dog cant do it, if we can see a video, we can help you correct any mistakes and advise you. Maybe you can do it better than our trainers can!
Remember, the more you join in, the more free training and advice you will get from us!
Our facebook group can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/316667421691037
We hope many of you will keep in contact, we love to hear how you are getting on and we are here to try and help with advice if you are struggling.
Stay safe everyone and keep in touch!
