Beginners’ Courses
Tuesday course trainers: Laura Hackett & Vicky Lee
Thursday course trainers: Lynn Prince & Liz Spencer
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 - 8:30pm
The Beginners’ course is for dogs over five months old, be they progressing from our Puppy Playgroup or joining us for their first training experience. We teach a range of basic skills, such as sit, stay and recall, which will set you and your dog up for a safe and happy life together. Both courses are six weeks long and have rolling start dates, though they are limited to 10 dogs per class and no more than three new dogs will be allowed to start in the same week, to allow each dog and owner to get sufficient time with their trainers, so you may have to wait a week or two before starting. Once you have completed your course you may like to attend our Bronze Course, or our Improvers’ Class.
The cost is £45 for six weeks (including membership)

Bronze Course
Trainers: Vicky Lee and Laura Hackett
When: Thursdays 7:30 - 8:30pm
The Bronze Course is available to anyone from our Beginners’ Courses or Improvers' Class who want to achieve the Kennel Club Good Citizen Award at Bronze level. The course builds on skills learnt as a beginner, but in a more focused environment aimed purely at completeing the Bronze Award. Once you have achieved the Bronze, you may like to join our Improvers' Class and work towards Silver and Gold.
The Bronze Course consists of four weeks training to brush up on the exercises, with the award held every fifth week, so if the upcoming award day is too soon for you and your dog to be ready, you can aim for the next date without having to wait too long.
The cost is £25 for the 5 week course.
If you are interested in taking the Bronze Award, your Beginners' or Improvers' trainer will put you in touch with Vicky and Laura as you reach the end of your course.

Improvers’ Class
Trainers: Peter Bates, Joan Cattell, Laura Hackett, Phil Henson, Lynn Prince and Liz Spencer
When: Thursdays 8:30 - 9:30pm
This class is for dogs who have completed our Beginners’ Course, or have trained to a similar level at another venue. You do not have to have your Bronze Award to join the Improvers', but if you decide you want to achieve it, you will have to join the Bronze Course and then return to the Improvers'. You can train towards your Silver and Gold Awards, or just enjoy a bit of socialising and training. The trainer changes each week, so you always get something a little different. This course is for dogs who have some basic training, so we can make things a little more challenging and really put you and your dog to the test.
This course is ongoing. Members come as and when they can and pay £3 a night.
Call any of our trainers or email us at wmdtc1@gmail.com for more information.

Membership Fees
When you join your first course at the club, you will be given a membership card. Membership lasts for one year and costs £5, which is included in the Puppy and Beginners' course prices, though not in the Bronze or Improvers' classes. Being a member means you get a £5 reduction on any further courses you attend within the year and applies to the owner, not the dog, so if you have more than one dog to train, you get the discount for each of them. Fees are due every January (unless you join the club after October, where renewal is waived until the following January). Keep your membership card handy to avoid being overcharged by a new trainer.
